Carla is Coordinator and Instructor of our SITREP.at LISBON design studios. Carla is an architect, designer and writer living and working in New York, USA and Lisbon, Portugal. She is also Co-founder of AUM Studio in New York (w/ Ed Keller) and Umasideia in Lisbon. She Currently teaches architecture at RPI and Pratt GAUD, and has taught architecture studios and seminars in several schools, including Cornell University, City College, and the University of Pennsylvania. Her practice and academic endeavors focus on the convergences of Architecture/Design, Urban Phenomena, Ubiquitous Cultures, Digital Communication, and the role of design in cultural and technological innovation. Her publications include “4 Lines” as author (Akademie Schloss Solitude), City Fragments and City Fragments, Beijing (CBA) as co-editor. Her work and writings have appeared in AD, Journal of Architectural Education, GDNYU, OA Lisbon, and Experimenta, as well as on other online publications. She is also a monthly contributor to the Huffington Post Design Section. Her practice includes built and ongoing residential and institutional projects, exhibitions, and multimedia installations. She recently curated, organized, and designed the event Portugal Now and the Cornell AAP Folio of the same title, which comprised an exhibition of more than 20 Portuguese offices with conferences in Ithaca, NY and New York City.
